This is the third plate from our afternoon tea–style lunch, served on a particular day.
Lately, we’ve noticed that more of our guests have begun referring to our style as “high tea.”
Unlike afternoon tea, which typically features light snacks, high tea is a more substantial meal that serves as both tea and dinner. With our structure of a starter (1st), main course (2nd), and dessert (3rd), we also feel that what we offer at Tridor closely resembles the high tea format.
When introducing our lunch offering, we debated whether to describe it as “afternoon tea” or “high tea.” In the end, we chose “afternoon tea” because it is the more widely recognized term.
If “high tea” becomes more widely understood in the future, there may come a time when calling it a “high tea–style lunch” makes more sense to people.
